Four players from the 2015 team have been named to the West Coast Lacrosse League All-Conference team, and Humboldt State head lacrosse coach Tony Silvaggio announced this on Wednesday.
Attackmen Danny Balok and Cole Aylward were named the first team of the WCLL All-Conference. Goalie Dillon Sheedy and face-off specialist Juan Climaco were given honorable mention.
Aylward, a junior captain from San Diego, and Balok had an incredible season by any standard. Aylward netted 37 goals and 27 assists in 10 games. Balok, a senior captain from Larkspur, California, added another 31 goals and 26 assists in only nine games. The duo were practically unstoppable and among the elite performers in all WCLL offensive categories.
Balok was second in the WCLL regular season for goals per game, third in assists per game and points per game, and fourth in assists and points overall. Aylward was just a touch better statistically, ranking first in WCLL for goals per game, second in points, points per game, and assists per game, and third in goals and assists. Alyward’s 6.4 points per game is also seventh best in the MCLA DII regular season; Balok’s 6.333 ppg is eighth best in the MCLA.
Balok finishes his career as a three-time All-Conference attackman and two-time team captain. In four years and 40 games with the Hogs, Balok scored 102 goals and 75 assists, averaging 4.43 points per game.
Sheedy, a freshman, led WCLL Div II goalies in saves per game (18.4) and ground balls (16). Climaco, a senior, won 87 of 125 face-offs (69.9%).
All-American awards will be announced in May.
