Following pandemic pause, Alumni fall 14-13 to Humboldt squad in instant classic

After a three-year hiatus, the Humboldt Lacrosse team outlasted the Alumni squad, 14-13, to win the 2022 Alumni Game.

Rookie attack Noah Meck scored five goals to lead the young guys over the Alumni, in a match that pitted one of the deepest Alumni benches in years against a young and eager but unproven Humboldt team.

The game featured lots of excitement, with the Humboldt squad taking an early lead and staying just ahead of the Alumni team until the fourth quarter when the Alumni pulled ahead by two goals with about 3 minutes left.

But then the Humboldt team rallied with goals by three promising new players to pull ahead in the final minute. The Alumni mounted a final attempt to even the game but the Humboldt defense held firm, sealed with a stellar game by senior goalie Zack Gamble, to hold off the veterans and clinch bragging rights until next year’s match-up.
